姐姐東明回國給弟弟阿傑辦一場西式婚禮，家人卻帶了一隻公雞回來給阿傑沖喜，打破所有計劃。父親只關心公雞，母親則不動聲色地跟東明算一筆女兒賬，無人關心阿傑。婚禮當天阿傑失蹤，婚禮仍要繼續。東明開始以她的方式來揭開這個家庭的荒誕。
After her return from abroad, sister Dongming plans a grand Western-style wedding for her younger brother Ajie. Yet their family brings home a rooster to ward off ill fortune for him, ruining all her arrangements. Their father’s sole concern is the rooster, while their mother quietly settles an old score with Dongming over her past as a daughter. No one pays any heed to Ajie himself. On the wedding day, Ajie goes missing. Dongming then sets out to expose the absurdity of this family in her own way.

Li Jingyu, born in 1996, grew up in a family steeped in Cantonese culture. Passionate about Cantonese film creation, his works mostly focus on the life and emotions of Cantonese people in the Pearl River Delta and the urban changes of Guangzhou.

我老家地處粵西，從小便感受到嶺南地區是個看似開明其實夾雜著封建迷信與重男輕女觀念的地方。本片取財於我表姐家庭，他們常流傳著姐姐是外人，只有家中的兒子才是頂梁柱，是真正的親人的說法。因此我想嘗試提出一個疑問，如果這名兒子無法成為頂梁柱時，那該怎麼辦？一隻看似能代表男性權利象徵的公雞進入到這個家庭，以此來看看一對新人的新婚如何將走向異化，以及姐姐與弟弟之間的關係隨之可能發生的錯位....
Growing up in western Guangdong, I witnessed a Lingnan society that appears progressive on the surface, yet still tangled with old‑fashioned customs and patriarchal mindsets. This film is inspired by my cousin's real‑life family story. A local belief holds that resources spent on daughters are wasted on outsiders, while only sons can serve as the family's true pillar.
This raises my core question: what happens when the son fails to live up to these heavy expectations? A rooster, symbolic of masculine authority, enters the household. It witnesses how a wedding gradually turns distorted, alongside the shifting, dislocated dynamic between sister and brother.
