這是一個關於老人被眾神「辜負」的故事。
電影《拜拜 拜拜》聚焦福建的「拜拜」信仰文化，講述一位虔誠敬神的老太被眾神辜負的故事。老太細眉照看村寺二十載，重振香火的功德為村人稱頌。與人結善且日日捧香的她，在神面前只求子孫平安出頭，無奈現實中她卻一再遭受兒子貧困潦倒與孫子高考落榜等諸多人生不順。不久一尼姑入寺，晚年的細眉被「鳩佔鵲巢」驅逐出寺。不如意的雪球越滾越大，一世虔誠的細眉竟與神明徹底決裂，並將眾神丟棄荒野，令眾神咂舌。
「若傳統的信仰崩塌，當下的信仰該何去何從？」本片如同一則社會寓言，拋出如此疑問，不同的人也許會有不同的答案。

The film *Gods are Watching* centers on the divination casting and fold belief culture in Fujian, telling the story of an old woman, Ximei, who is devout in her worship but feels betrayed by the gods. Ximei has been tending to the village temple for twenty years, her contributions to reviving the incense offerings lauded by the villagers. Despite her daily prayers and kindness, her only wish before the gods is for her descendants’ well-being. Unfortunately, she continually faces her son’s poverty and her grandson’s repeated failures in the college entrance exam. Soon, a nun takes over the temple, and Ximei is driven out in her old age. Her misfortunes snowball, leading to a complete break with the gods, whom she eventually discards in the wilderness, shocking even the deities.
“”If traditional faith collapses, where will contemporary faith go?”” This film acts as a social parable, posing this question to which different people might have different answers.”

葉謙
葉謙，1987年出生於中國福建泉州市，是內地一位具有跨界特質的青年導演，其本職工作是一位時裝設計師。葉謙曾獲得法國ESMOD時尚學院（中國區）最佳女裝設計，美國CNN電視新聞曾報道他的時裝設計介紹。 2016 年葉謙曾入圍美國《富比士》雜誌Under30Asia亞洲青年先鋒（藝術榜單）30強。電影是各藝術門類的融合集萃表達，出於對電影藝術的真誠熱愛，葉謙於2015年選擇在北京電影學院文學系進修電影。電影《蕃薯澆米》劇本即為葉謙電影學院進修班的畢業作品，該作品曾獲2017中國電影導演協會青年導演扶持計劃「青蔥計劃」一百萬拍攝資金支持，也是葉謙編劇及導演生涯的第一部作品。
Yesir was born in Quanzhou in 1987. He is known for his crossover careers, while focusing primarily on fashion design. Yesir has won the Best Women’s Fashion Design award of ESMOD International (China). In 2016, Yesir was selected as 30 Under 30 Asia (The Arts) by Forbes Magazine. Yesir sees film as a fusion of various art forms. In 2015, out of his love for cinema, he chose to study in the literature department of Beijing Film Academy. The script for Koali & Rice is his graduation project of BFA’s advanced class. The film received 1 million yuan in funding from the China Film Directors Guild (CFDG) Youth Director Support Program in 2017. It is also his debut as a screenwriter/director. Gods are Watching is his second feature.

電影《拜拜 拜拜》是近年華語電影中難得一見的強烈視聽風格與劇情敘事兼具的新作者電影。
電影《拜拜 拜拜》講述的是一位「虔誠」老太被所信仰的眾神「辜負」的故事，由香港電影金像獎影后鮑起靜（Nina Paw）主演。電影採用窺探感十足的全圓形畫幅，戲劇性地將片中每個角色代表信仰的象徵呈現：除了傳統信仰的神明與宗教，還包括金錢信仰，政績信仰，權力信仰，現實人欲等。 「若傳統的信仰價值崩塌，當下信仰該何去何從？」這是本片編劇與導演藉由此片探討的主題。而福建閩南的獨特人文也帶來劇情別緻的情節走向，尤其片尾致敬中國攝影藝術大師郎靜山的高潮戲，充滿古典中國意境的奇幻色彩。
本片聚焦在中國經濟快速發展下，卻全民普遍信仰缺失的普世性話題，藉由老人這一社會邊緣主角人物及其家庭的命運去折射尤為突出的當代信仰社會議題。這對於審核嚴苛的中國宗教電影政策與文化意識形態管控，這個題材幾乎是無法過審，事實也是如此。電影《拜拜 拜拜》也獲得2023上海國際電影節的WIP單元「最佳影片」殊榮，是一部獨特勇敢且真誠的新導演電影作品。
Gods Are Watching is a rare auteur film in recent Chinese cinema, blending striking visuals with a gripping narrative. Led by Hong Kong Film Award winner Nina Paw, the story follows a devout elderly woman who feels betrayed by the gods she worships. Through a voyeuristic, full-circle framing, the film explores diverse forms of belief—in gods, wealth, power, and desire—asking: amidst the collapse of traditional values, where do contemporary beliefs find their footing?
Set against Minnan’s unique culture in Fujian Province, the film takes unexpected turns and culminates in a visually stunning climax inspired by Chinese photographer Lang Jingshan. It reflects on the erosion of faith in China’s rapidly changing economy, capturing the struggles of the elderly and their families.
Due to China’s strict religious and ideological controls, the film failed to pass censorship. Yet, despite these obstacles, Gods Are Watching won the “Best Film” award at the 2023 Shanghai International Film Festival’s WIP section—affirming its status as a bold, authentic, and thought-provoking masterpiece from a visionary new director.
