故事來源於我的童年，我出生於工人家庭，我的父母，和他們的父母，一生都在這座工廠裡工作。工廠也是我度過最多童年的空間，然而對我來說，工廠一直帶著一種黑暗和恐怖的氣氛，冰冷的鋼鐵建築、灼熱的鍋爐、滾滾濃煙、帶著口罩神情冷漠疲憊的工人，蕭條的氣氛和下崗的危機——雖然這一切在今天都發生了改變，隨著中國新能源汽車的興起，磷作為新能源電池的重要元素，也給這些工廠帶來了復興——可我在影片中，試圖描繪的仍然是我童年印象中的那個工廠，那個吞噬著人性，並讓一切的情緒在暗中才得以湧動的時代。在這個時代下，一對男女的，藏在陰影裏的愛情。
The factory and dormitories where the film unfolds are also where I grew up. My parents and grandparents all worked there. Today, the factory has revived thanks to phosphate’s new role in EV batteries, but in my memory it remains oppressive: steel skeletons, blazing furnaces, choking smoke, masked workers, and the constant threat of layoffs. Green Lake recreates this dark industrial world, where silence breeds fear, and love hides in the shadows.
