A father and daughter head home through a shopping district. She rides on his back, and begins to drift off as she sways to the rhythm of his steps. The fantastic scenery of her dream undergoes dizzying transformations as it incorporates the sounds and atmosphere around her as well as the feeling of her father’s back. A drawn animation that charms with its creative development and presentation of motion that creates rich expression out of highly skillful depiction
Director
KIYAMA Mizuki
Born in Osaka, Japan in 1992. Graduated from Kanazawa College of Art, Department of Fine Art, Oil Painting course in 2015. In 2019, received master’s degree from the Department of Animation at Tokyo University of the Arts Graduated School of Film and New Media. On the Way Home (2018) was selected by the 64th International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and the 32nd Image Forum Festival. Bath House of Whales (2019) was selected to the Graduation Films category, Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2019, and won the TERAYAMA Shuji Prize at the 33rd Image Forum Festival.
