Polypedates megacephalus, a small and inconspicuous tree frog, is now growing strong and ready to take over here and there in Taiwan. Over and over, scientists and volunteers try to remove them to protect our native frogs. At the same time, the loud mating calls of cane toads, the other massive invaders, are unfortunately heard in central Taiwan. An all-out ecological catastrophe seemed inevitable as they look so innocent that we could hardly imagine.
Director
LIAO Ching-Yao
Liao ching-yao, is a documentary director since 2003. He is also a cinematographer, showing his talent in shorts, feature films, TV shows, and VR works. His recent DP works include “The Man Who Couldn't Leave” (VR), which has won the Venice Immerse Best Experience at the Venice International Film Festival 2022, “Salli” (feature), and “Hunter Brothers” (feature). “The Elimination” is his latest documentary work, and his first attempt in ecological and environmental issues with alternative perspective.
