The city is no longer the same after the year of social unrest. How do those that remain move on with their lives? After Nam’s good friend Man left the city, Nam is left behind to take care of Man's mother and motor bike. A strange visitation one night by her grandfather brings Nam back to her ancestral village in mainland China, where she learns about her father’s painful past. The gaze of the camera, the survivors of two generations, the past and the present, the country and the city, commiserate together in a shared moment of grief and solidarity.

 

Director

YUEN Chi Him

He graduated with a Master's degree in Cultural Studies from Lingnan University. His works include 'The Withering' (2020), 'Imprisoned Light' (2019), and 'In Blossom' (2017), which focus on unfair social issues. In addition, he has worked on images and literature, publishing 'Living in Sorrows' (2022) and 'Against the Grain' (2017), as a photography author.

How does one move on with a heavy heart? The unexpected mysterious encounter with her “grandpa” drove Nam to go to mainland with her dad for a funeral. The visit revealed a trip down memory lane, urging Nam to reflect on herself and to face the sorrow and remorse about the loss of a dear friend.
