Have you ever been curious about how an old man being ignored by family and society? he goes to mend window by his bike, passes through streets, buildings under construction, market and finally MAZU Temple, along with various kinds of sceneries, smells and sounds.

Director

Yun Hsien HUANG

Sian born 1982 into a craftsman's family, she started selling her dough at temple when she was a child. She dedicated herself in transforming the Chinese dough-crafting tradition into her stop-motion animation work. Sian believes that the stop-motion animation and dough-crafting both emphasize on the unique hand-made spirit. She hopes to show the different expressions of the declining traditional culture.

Yi Chin TSAI

Yi-Chin born 1992 in Tainan, Taiwan. Now working as a director and animator. Stop-motion animation “The Bread Bear"included in ANIMFEST, Beeston Film Festival And IndieWise Film Festival.

細膩刻劃老人的內心孤寂,將生活日常幻化成一場場既怪誕又瑰麗的旅程。

黃勻弦導演:
這部動畫片有兩層的涵意,講的是科技進步的快速,人們來不及趕上的現象;
想要探討的是當存在的價值不被需要的時候,該如何生存。
本片名原本取名為『安身立命』,就是把心跟身體找一個地方安置,而老人當房子被摧毀,不再需要這個房子後,能再找一個地方去。
有個寫著親親寶貝廣告的公車體前,老人騎著三輪車的畫面,要表達是被遺棄的、被放棄的意涵,而老人身旁都是戴著防毒面具的騎士,唯獨老人沒有戴,在空氣汙染嚴重的環境,老人已有放棄生命的意圖。
會用停格動畫做為拍攝的手法,是因為家族從事捏麵人的關係,而擔憂捏麵人師傅藏技,而來不及把這個工藝傳遞出去,因為傳承要在最美好的時候,所以我透過這件作品,不管是在戲院或是在網路上,能傳遞出去讓更多人看到。
