The director has been following the Tainan Railway Rebuilding since 2013. This film was made from footage recorded since 2016. Urban renewal is a double-edged sword. How can you redevelop an old establishment, but at the same time, still secure all the past memories? A challenge that’s worth confronting. When the buildings are dismantled, memories can only be recollected from images.

WANG Kuo-Hao
WANG Kuo-Hao was born in Tainan, Taiwan and is now studying a Master’s degree in Film Production at National Taiwan University of Arts. 8 years ago, he founded Tainan Dreamcatcher Film Studio and started making films as a screenwriter and director. As a cinematographer and still photographer, he has worked on numerous film series, reality shows, movies, short films, press conferences and other various events.

好似看著白日夢夾雜著過去記憶的影像疊擊，既是熟悉的場景，卻好像搬上戲劇舞台般的演出，引領著觀眾穿梭在現實與虛幻間，多希望是個看了開心的戲，但卻是真實居民的嘲諷悲歌。
Since 2013, I have continued to record the changes to Tainan caused by the redevelopment of the underground railway in the form of still photography and short narrative film. Due to the redevelopment of the underground railway, Lane 232 of Qingnian Road, KINKS, and the shops in front of the railroad crossing have disappeared since then. Even the Dongmen Bridge, with a history of nearly half a century in Tainan, will also be taken down at the end of the year. Underneath the bridge, the motorcycle underpass, along with its enchanting light and shadows, will all be sealed in the past memories of the people in Tainan. I hope that through this film, more people will pay attention to this issue and rethink. Even though urban development provides us with a more convenient life, what else has it taken away from our lives instead?
