CHEN Chun-Tien

CHEN Chun-Tien studied at the Tainan National University of the Arts, Graduate Institute of Studies in Documentary. As a filmmaker, he explores various fields of visual arts including documentary, animation and experimental films. His animation work SICK BUILDING SYNDROME (2015) was presented at domestic and international festivals, including Taipei Film Festival and Kaohsiung Film Festival. His documentary IN MEMORY OF CHINATOWN (2016) uses experimental methods to explore urban renewal issues, selected in the New Asian Currents competition of Yamagata International Film Festival.

在無聲中踏過荒蕪的夢靨，探尋「我」的意義，是拾起滿地碎片，是毀滅，是重新塑形。成長是場超現實的默劇。

Growing up is just like an irreversible and eternal nightmare journey. I try to transform the abstract thoughts collected for years into the cinematic expression. The story begins with a young boy named “A”, who lost his name. He started a road trip to search for the inner landscape of himself. At the end, this is also a journey to explore the lifelong puzzle of where I came from, where I’m going to, and who I am.

我很享受創作者孤注一擲把腦洞開給觀眾看的梭哈感。那種用盡全力也嘗試要把腦袋裡的畫面、感受、用現在所能表達的方式傳遞出來，無論完不完美。

導演在創作理念寫道：所謂長大成人更像是一場不可逆又綿延不絕的漫長惡夢。看電影當下的感覺是導演嘗試透過電影創作找尋自身對於上述感受的回應，詭異的、奇幻的、驚悚的、露骨的，每看到一個轉換，心情上就會發出：哇！還來啊！哇！還有啊的這種驚喜感。好久沒有這種感受了，上一次有這種看電影的感受是看《穆荷蘭大道》的時候，所以為這樣少數看電影感受到的體感而感到新鮮。
