On an urban island in Shanghai, Yoyo starts secretly following Lan Tian. On possibly the next or previous day, Lan Tian is quietly observing Yoyo in the distance. Trapped in a twin-towered shopping complex, they experience two variations of encounters, as affections, desires and other feelings start to appear.

ZHANG Jia-Jun, Oscar

Jiajun was born in Shanghai and studied film in London before making an award-winning hybrid short film IF YOU SEE HER, SAY HELLO, in an urban ruin in northwest China, co-directed with Korean filmmaker Hee Young Pyun. Their works seek to capture the fleeting memories of people in diverse urban contexts. Jiajun's debut feature, ALL, OR NOTHING AT ALL, a film set on an urban island - a shopping complex in Shanghai, was selected for the 27th Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and the 53rd New Directors/New Films by the Lincoln Center and MoMA.

One night, when I returned home after wandering abroad for several years, I was stunned to find two newly completed shining twin towers from my balcony; they radiated lights and looked down at me proudly from the night sky. There are more than 400 large shopping malls in the metropolitan of Shanghai. Unknowingly, my private space overlaps and intersects with these commercial spaces, and feelings and relationships are entangled within them. One day. My partner Hee Young Pyun (co-writer) and I decided to go inside this twin-towered "Global Harbor" shopping mall near my neighborhood and use cameras to record the people and space there. Using this footage and the experience as a starting point, we began to conceive of a group of people and two encounters with them.
