The filmmaker first met J in Australia and took him to see "The Walls of China". They met up again in Hong Kong three years later. He told her about his insomnia since his return from his piano study in Manchester, night after sleepless night he met different people and got tangled up with their lives. Inspired by his piano music, she traveled to Macau, her hometown and found a ghost that looked like her long lost brother. The stories of these two people merged as they met with the living and the dead. It is a eulogy, a remembrance of a lost city.

羅卓瑤於香港大學英國文學系肆業後加入香港電台電視部戲劇組工作，後赴英倫於英國國立電影進修導演系，回港後拍攝了多部獲獎電影，包括《愛在他鄉的季節》、《秋月》(瑞士盧卡諾金豹獎)、《誘僧》(威尼斯競赛)等。1995年移居澳洲後繼續從事電影行業，作品有《浮生》(瑞士盧卡諾銀豹獎)、《遇上1967的女神》(威尼斯競賽，最佳女主角)、《給阿里的信》，亦有執導華語電影《如夢》、《暴走神探》等。

Buying Tickets
當我旁觀我的侄女侄子從零歲長成少男少女時，我反思自我生命之歷程，感恩有幸得機緣讓我按自己之意願開懇自己的路。所以當我目睹年青生命於長成期間無端無必要地被宰割截肢、失去為夢想奮戰之機緣時，我哀傷。但當我見証人類精神之無懼無畏、昂揚鼓盪之堅拔氣勢時，我無盡崇敬，有所啟悟，歷史讓我感受到人類精神之泉湧不竭。同時歷史在我面前一再重覆又重覆。
「世界有窮願無窮」──牟宗三老師這句話是我的啟示，給予我希望，尤其當此黑暗時刻。能夠（某程度！）無時間限制，自由地給出我最好的，在有限範圍內將潛藏的能量盡情發掘採探，這一切只能在這次特殊的創作環境下成為可能。我藉著「首次發現」的狂喜鼓動下，對一切事物以從未認識的態度，去感受、去思考、去看、去體驗，於尋尋覓覓間去發現，讓真理顯現其自我真面目。
